Quality Assurance Manager
Responsibilities
- Lead and maintain the laboratory’s Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, NELAC/TNI, CS-LAP, and NLLAP requirements.
- Plan and conduct internal audits, track nonconformance, manage Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), and coordinate external audit responses.
- Oversee document control, proficiency testing, and quality documentation updates to ensure accuracy and traceability.
- Serve as the primary liaison to accrediting and regulatory bodies, managing assessments, audit logistics, and follow-up actions.
- Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics, identify trends, and implement continuous improvement strategies using Lean or Six Sigma principles.
- Supervise calibration and verification programs, ensuring all instruments and processes maintain full traceability and validation.
- Provide QA training to laboratory personnel, reinforcing a culture of quality, compliance, and accountability across all operations.
- Support LIMS integration, QA documentation systems, and quality data analysis to maintain real-time visibility into lab performance.
- Collaborate with management and technical leads to proactively prepare for upcoming accreditations and audits.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, or related field; advanced degree (MS/PhD) preferred.
- Experience: 5–10 years of QA leadership in an accredited testing or calibration laboratory.
- Proven expertise in ISO/IEC 17025, internal auditing, nonconformance management, proficiency testing, and CAPA implementation.
- Strong familiarity with NELAC/TNI, A2LA, CS-LAP, and NLLAP accreditation frameworks.
- Experience in quality statistics, trend analysis, and continuous improvement methods (Lean, Six Sigma, etc).
- Excellent communication skills — able to write, present, and train effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency with LIMS, document control systems, and quality data management tools.
- Professional certifications (ASQ CQE, CQA, or similar) are highly desirable.
Pay
$125,000 - $125,000/year
