What You’ll Do
- Aid in the initial implementation and ongoing maintenance of the QMS.
- Promote quality as a continuous improvement program and ensure employees are committed to this process through various engagement opportunities such as investigations, root cause analysis, identification of corrective actions, and review of lessons learned from incidents.
- Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor, engage employees, promote improvement opportunities, and build relationships with employees at all levels.
- Actively listen to employee input and respond accordingly to improve quality processes.
- Embed quality processes and controls into daily operations and utilize advanced analytics to drive decision-making.
- Develop and implement quality incident reduction plans with workshop management teams.
- Conduct quality leadership training for managers, supervisors, and employees.
- Manage quality incident investigations, evaluate trends, and collaborate with process owners, engineers, or other parties to implement corrective actions.
- Create new and transform existing quality record-keeping processes to ensure appropriate behaviors and desired outcomes.
- Conduct internal quality audits and network with other quality professionals across the company to share best practices and discuss quality issues.
- Respond to customer inquiries on quality and participate in registration/surveillance audits.
- Network with other safety professionals across the company to share best practices and discuss safety issues.
- Apply systemic risk management to improve intrinsic safety controls and prevent human error.
- Conduct local and corporate safety training for employees and new hires.
- Keep records of safety training and employee certifications and promote safety as a continuous improvement program.
- Facilitate 5S and lean improvement projects.
- Ensure corrective actions are properly generated, documented, tracked, and effectively closed.
- Ensure quality document control and records are maintained and operating effectively.
- Conduct Management reviews and perform activities as a Management Representative.
- Teleconference with all facilities to ensure all action items from audits, observations, complaints, etc. are effectively followed through on.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor's Degree (BS) from four-year college or university, with two or more years of related experience in governance, administration, and operation of a quality management system and all components in a manufacturing or processing industry.
- Demonstrated proficiency in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and safety causation models.
- Knowledge of federal/state/local safety regulations.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret mathematical concepts in solving quality problems related to material processing, manufacturing, and special relationships.
