About the role
The Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) will assist adults and children in managing feelings of depression, anxiety, anger, and emotional and behavioral issues. The QMHP will work with adults to learn functional living skills, find community resources, and provide support. For children, the QMHP will provide training to improve communication, problem-solving, anger management, social skills, and interpersonal interactions.
Responsibilities
- Provide strengths-based trainings using evidence-based curriculums to help clients develop and build skills.
- Work with Case Managers to provide services including skill training, medication support, and crisis intervention.
- Implement and adhere to the Service/Treatment Plan focusing on client needs and strengths.
- Document all crisis hours and maintain client documentation in the electronic record.
- Maintain effective listening skills, establish rapport, provide emotional support, and engage family members in the service process.
- Keep family and team members informed about progress towards achieving Service Plan goals.
- Assist clients with daily living tasks such as behavior management, counseling, budget management, and independent transportation assistance.
- Collaborate with external agencies and support systems to ensure client needs are met.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and teach clients effective communication, problem-solving, and anger management techniques.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
Requirements
- Has a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum number of hours equivalent to a major in psychology, social work, medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, counseling, sociology, human growth and development, physician assistant, gerontology, special education, educational psychology, early childhood education, or early childhood intervention.
- A registered nurse with at least 2 years of experience providing therapeutic services for children/adolescents with behavioral challenges on an intensive level.

Job Environment
The Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) will generally perform the job in the office, community, and home environment. In some instances, the QMHP may be required to transport clients. The environment for service provision will be as safe as possible.
