About the role

The Quality and Risk Management (QRM) group at Deloitte Consulting LLP is seeking a Risk Manager to join the Life Sciences & Health Care (LSHC) Industry Risk Management team. This role involves identifying and mitigating business and contract risks associated with professional consulting services. You will provide quality and risk management support throughout the opportunity and engagement lifecycle, including risk consultations, contract reviews, negotiations, and ongoing risk mitigation during engagement execution.

Responsibilities

• Deal Support, Contracting, and Negotiations
  • Assist with deal desk and contract review activities.
  • Support the sales team with deal and contract structuring, RFI/RFP/Proposals, contract review, drafting custom provisions, and negotiations.
  • Intersect with various functions—including sales, legal, finance, and delivery—to act as a strategic advisor for managing deal flow and optimizing sales and contracting cycles.
  • Work closely with deal teams and legal in reviewing, advancing, and negotiating agreements such as master agreements, confidentiality agreements, and teaming agreements.
  • Own risk consultation and contracting review of scope of work (SOW) documents and related schedules.
• Ongoing and Post-Execution Risk Management and Contracting Support
  • Assist with ongoing contracting, risk management, and mitigation support for requirements such as SOWs, Change Orders, amendments, and renewals.
  • Work actively with account leadership and the quality team to identify and mitigate post-signature delivery and engagement risks.
  • Facilitate continued compliance with contractually required policies and processes and the Firm's internal policies.
• Knowledge Management and Training Support
  • Maintain knowledge of core professional services (e.g., IT, Managed Services, Outsourcing) and product offerings to support contracting and risk matters in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactively pursue, assess, and advance firm initiatives in areas such as software, cloud, data analytics, operate services, Generative AI, and privacy & security.
  • Support strategic initiatives to develop, update, and improve risk management and contracting processes, tools, and templates, and drive their adoption.

Skills

• Strong understanding of the professional services contracting lifecycle, with an emphasis on technology services.
• Proven track record influencing diverse stakeholders and driving common outcomes, with a strong grasp of commercial contracting processes, including terms and conditions.
• Outstanding verbal/written communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills to lead a customer-service-driven and team-oriented environment.
• Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to prioritize critical needs, act decisively, and manage a high volume of complex tasks within tight deadlines.
• Experience writing and reviewing scope of work documents, with a focus on incorporating actionable and measurable guidance to address delivery execution risks.
• Proven willingness to listen, learn, and make and explain appropriate decisions—even in tough business discussions.
• LSHC industry experience, with an understanding of the unique risks affecting this industry.
• Experience handling risk issues related to outsourcing, cloud software, software licensing, and alliance agreements.

Qualifications

• Experience Requirements: Minimum 5-8 years of direct contract negotiation for technology services or experience in the Consulting/Professional Services space.
• Education: BBA/BA/BS in a related field.
• Ability to travel approximately 25%; flexibility required based on candidate location and role.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
• Preferred:
  • Technology delivery and implementation services experience.
  • Master’s Degree.

Pay

The wage range for this role considers factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and business needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for geographic differentials. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $122,000.00 to $240,500.00. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to program rules, where awards depend on individual and organizational performance.
