About the role

The Quality and Risk Management (QRM) group at Deloitte Consulting LLP is seeking a Risk Manager to join the Life Sciences & Health Care (LSHC) Industry Risk Management team. This role focuses on identifying and mitigating business and contract risks associated with professional consulting services. Responsibilities span the entire opportunity and engagement lifecycle, including risk consultations, contract review and revision, negotiations, and ongoing risk management during engagement execution. The Risk Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to senior client service executives.

Responsibilities

  • Deal Support, Contracting, and Negotiations
    • Assist with deal desk and contract review activities.
    • Support the sales team with deal and contract structuring, RFI/RFP/Proposals, contract review, drafting custom provisions, and negotiations.
    • Intersect with sales, legal, finance, and delivery teams to act as a strategic advisor for managing deal flow and optimizing sales and contracting cycles.
    • Review, advance, and negotiate agreements such as master agreements, confidentiality agreements, and teaming agreements.
    • Own risk consultation and contracting review of scope of work (SOW) documents and related schedules.
  • Ongoing and Post-Execution Risk Management and Contracting Support
    • Provide ongoing contracting, risk management, and mitigation support for SOWs, Change Orders, amendments, and renewals.
    • Work with account leadership and quality teams to identify and mitigate post-signature delivery and engagement risks.
    • Facilitate compliance with contractually required policies and the Firm's internal policies.
  • Knowledge Management and Training Support
    • Maintain knowledge of core professional services (e.g., IT, Managed Services, Outsourcing) and product offerings to support contracting and risk matters in a dynamic environment.
    • Proactively assess and advance firm initiatives in software, cloud, data analytics, operate services, Generative AI, and privacy & security.
    • Support strategic initiatives to develop, update, and improve risk management processes, tools, and templates, driving adoption across the firm.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of the professional services contracting lifecycle, with an emphasis on technology services.
  • Proven ability to influence diverse stakeholders and drive common outcomes, with a deep understanding of commercial contracting processes, including terms and conditions.
  • Outstanding verbal/written communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills to foster a customer-service-driven and team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent leadership skills, including prioritizing critical needs, acting decisively, and managing a high volume of complex tasks within tight deadlines.
  • Experience writing and reviewing scope of work documents, focusing on actionable and measurable guidance to address delivery execution risks.
  • Proven willingness to listen, learn, and make and explain appropriate decisions, even in challenging business discussions.
  • Experience in the LSHC industry, with an understanding of its unique risks.
  • Experience handling risk issues related to outsourcing, cloud software, software licensing, and alliance agreements.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 5-8 years of direct contract negotiation for technology services or experience in the Consulting/Professional Services space.
  • Education: BBA/BA/BS in a related field.
  • Travel: Approximately 25%; flexibility required based on candidate location and role.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technology delivery and implementation services experience.
  • Master’s Degree.

Pay

The wage range for this role is $122,000.00 to $240,500.00. Compensation decisions consider factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program may be available, dependent on individual and organizational performance.
