About the role
The Energy Marshal (EM) is responsible for reviewing and coordinating all changes in energy events on site. Key duties include leading and directing documents associated with these changes, auditing field documents, assisting in the commissioning process, and effectively communicating with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Aid in creating and maintaining site-specific Control of Hazardous Energy requirements.
- Review and validate safety programs of site-specific trade partners, vendors, and third parties.
- Authorize applications for change in energy on-site.
- Auxiliary in the commissioning process to ensure compliance with site-specific Control of Hazardous Energy Requirements.
- Communicate with project owners, Hensel Phelps staff, craft, trade partners, third party entities, and vendors.
- Participate in the six-step quality control/safety process.
- Maintain all documentation associated with change of energy requests.
- Conduct audits in field conditions to match authorized applications.
- Identify hazardous conditions and establish safe boundaries until processes are developed to correct unsafe conditions.
- Identify and record discrepancies to the Project Management Team.
- Derive system-level operations for schematics and associated documentation to ensure equipment protection and personnel safety.
- Coordinate with utility providers to establish safety conditions for on-site activities.
- Coordinate with vendors and trade partners to ensure safe operation of equipment.
- Participate in first-time energizations and first-of-kind activities utilized throughout the commissioning process.
- Provide on-site training for areas involving electrical safety and awareness for Hensel Phelps and subcontractors.
- Lead and mentor Facility Solution Associates I and II.
- Implement activities as identified by Manager associated with Operational Project Readiness (OPR).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 2-5 years’ relevant work experience.
- Possess basic written and verbal communications skills.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Highly proficient in computer software including Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
- Ability to perform tasks with minimal oversight.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to pass a substance abuse screening.
- Must be able to pass a physical exam (if applicable).
- Must be able to pass security clearances (if applicable).
Skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of electrical systems and safety protocols.
- Experience with hazard control and energy management.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
