Purchasing Specialist

Skill Requirements

• Negotiation and communication skills

• Understanding of procurement practices, vendor management, and inventory control
• Experience with ERP systems, purchasing software, and inventory management systems
• Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or similar certification

Job Duties

• Source and purchase raw materials, equipment, and services to support manufacturing operations
• Evaluate supplier quotes, negotiate pricing, and establish cost-effective purchasing agreements
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, and procurement documentation
• Monitor inventory levels to maintain adequate material availability while minimizing excess inventory
• Create, track, and follow up on purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery
• Resolve supplier delivery, pricing, and quality issues as they arise
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers
• Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to understand material requirements and project needs
• Research new suppliers, products, and cost-saving opportunities
• Support inventory control processes and internal purchasing audits
• Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and industry standards

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred
• 2-4 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
