Position Summary
The primary responsibility of Dilling Group, Inc. (DGI) procurement/purchasing personnel is to secure the purchase and timely delivery of materials and equipment necessary for DGI to deliver high quality work product to DGI customers on or ahead of schedule, at the lowest cost possible. As part of a continuing effort to make material purchasing more efficient and to allow the purchasing department to focus on large buyouts.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain unit forecasts by category/part/vendor and establish inventory targets and strategies that align with company goals.
- Determine purchasing needs and target vendors on cost, margin, and lead time.
- Monitor inventory levels and analyze historical data and current trends to identify risks and opportunities.
- Create and update purchase orders.
- Monitor shipments to ensure materials arrive on time.
- Verify invoice/PO discrepancies and resolve differences to authorize payment.
- Resolve cost, quality, lead-time, packaging, and other purchasing related issues with suppliers and vendors.
- Track credit requests for vendor shortages, damages, and mis-ships.
- Build and maintain positive, long-term supplier relationships.
- Regularly negotiate price, credit terms, discounts, packaging, and shipping methods with suppliers.
- Maintain vendor and item records.
- Evaluate new and existing vendors' ability to meet company requirements, goals, and objectives.
- Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with members of all cross-functional areas including: (Sales, IT, Warehouse, Finance and Wholesale) to ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.
- Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
Education, Training, Licenses And/or Certifications
- Experience in project coordination, with an ability to manage tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, proficient in other Office applications and the ability to become proficient in any system.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with an ability to effectively convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to anticipate and resolve issues that may arise.
- A commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on the latest software.
