About the role
This position will be based at the New Johnsonville Paper Mill and report to the Maintenance Manager. The Purchasing Manager will be a key member responsible for managing mill contracts, maintaining relationships with suppliers, and executing cost savings opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Prepares purchase orders, solicits bid proposals, and reviews requisitions for goods and services across the company, as well as provide local plant support.
- Researches and evaluates suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
- Formulates policies and procedures for bid proposals and procurement of goods and services.
- Evaluates and monitors contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for changes.
- Assists in identifying and executing cost savings opportunities within the supply chain.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience within a purchasing role in a manufacturing environment.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in supply chain or procurement.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel (using formulas, functions, and Pivot Tables), Outlook (for email & calendar management), and Word (to view & edit documents).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Finance, Logistics, or Business Administration.
- Experience in the Paper Industry.
- Experience performing data analysis.
- Experience with negotiating contracts or service agreements.
