Purchasing Coordinator
About the Role
Convergint is seeking a full-time, results-driven, and forward-thinking Purchasing Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate with sales and operations teams to provide purchasing assistance during the estimating, design, construction, and as-built stages of projects. You’ll be part of a dynamic team that supports your growth as Convergint expands.
Responsibilities
- Verify purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to issued Bill of Materials; clarify unclear items and recommend alternatives due to cost or lead time issues.
- Utilize available inventory items or surplus material by verifying stock availability with Logistics.
- As a backup to the Purchasing Lead, prepare and issue purchase orders when directed.
- Create and manage online databases of materials ordered, received, and delivered.
- Obtain quotes and negotiate costs with vendors to meet margin goals.
- Pursue and obtain shipping estimates and tracking information for material purchases.
- Prioritize order requests based on commitment schedules and adjust priorities as required.
- Verify receipt of items compared to items ordered; resolve shipping errors or damages with suppliers.
- Manage Return Material Authorizations for repair, replacement, or credit.
- Authorize payment for purchases by comparing items received to items ordered.
- Keep information accessible by sorting and filing documents on the company intranet.
- Provide purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
- Track orders to ensure consistency with commitment dates.
- Ensure product is delivered to the appropriate parties as requested.
- Communicate professionally, persuasively, and personably with vendors and clients via phone and email.
- Perform product research when necessary.
- Perform other duties as requested or required.
Requirements
- Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet customer needs without prompting.
- Superior attention to detail and multitasking skills.
- Must be a self-starter and work well without supervision.
- Valid driver’s license and transportation suitable for minimal local travel.
- Advanced verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Solid networking & IT skills.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
- Minimum Experience: 2+ years of previous experience in a purchasing environment.
- Preferred Experience (but not required): Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or related coursework.
