Purchasing Analyst

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Understands basic principles of supplier lead time, inventory days on hand, demand variability and forecasting, and minimum order quantities for best price
• Reviews current work practices and looks for opportunities to streamline and more effectively manage process
• Develops a thorough working knowledge of assigned items and associated supplier base as well as working knowledge of required MRP / ERP system
• Creates purchase orders in ERP system and communicates to suppliers
• Interacts with suppliers to manage portfolio including forecast, ordering, and expediting of material
• Analyzes item level sales history and forecast to inform purchasing decisions
• Maintains and reports key performance metrics, including purchase price variance, inventory, shortages, and supplier performance
• Interacts with Sales, Finance, Marketing, and Operations teams to manage inventory position and load scheduling

Qualifications

• Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or related business field
• 2+ years of experience with forecasting, replenishment, and purchasing
• Strong analytical skills with an ability to focus on the details
• Able to interact and communicate effectively with personnel at all levels within the organization to obtain, discuss, and analyze information and process
• Exceptional problem-solving skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced skills in the use of MS Excel (pivot tables, formula writing)
• Able to understand, develop and refine processes
• Able to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with ERP Systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics
• Willingness and ability to travel 25%
