About the Role
Communicate with customs brokers, FDA, USDA, and drayage to update import-cargo receiving schedules, handle shipping documents, and manage import permits. Update and maintain shipping schedules to set up item maintenance in the system. Assist with food-related tasks and other purchasing-related responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and clerical support to the department.
- Type reports, purchase orders, memoranda, and other documents.
- Research vendors and collect prices, specifications, and other data related to goods and services.
- Purchase new items or food and prepare new food for tasting meetings with sales departments.
- Establish and maintain a recordkeeping system for the purchasing department.
- Monitor stock levels and identify purchasing needs.
- Research potential vendors.
- Track orders and ensure timely delivery.
- Update internal databases with order details (dates, vendors, quantities, discounts).
- Conduct market research to identify pricing trends.
- Evaluate offers from vendors and negotiate better prices.
- Prepare cost analysis.
Qualifications
- Fluency in Japanese and English.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to learn purchasing procedures and policies.
- Typing speed of 40 words per minute.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Participate in Food Expo once a year.
- Mandatory participation during Company Inventory twice a year (June and December).
- College Associate degree or higher.
- Working experience at a Japanese company.
- Basic knowledge of Japanese food ingredients and industry.
- Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.

Pay
Annual salary range: $50,000 – $55,000 (USD).
