Buyer - Bilingual (Mandarin / English)

About the role

We are seeking qualified candidates for hourly production team member positions at our Columbia, South Carolina manufacturing facility. The role operates in a fast‑paced, high‑speed environment, following standardized work, adhering to safe work practices, and contributing to a continuous‑improvement culture.

Responsibilities

• Receive purchase requests, process them into purchase orders, and track activity to ensure on‑time, quality delivery using SAP/MRO items.
• Procure equipment and machinery for the new manufacturing plant.
• Procure raw materials for fiberglass production from existing vendors.
• Ensure suppliers adhere to prescribed work and delivery schedules.
• Utilize negotiation and value‑analysis skills to reduce overall procurement costs.
• Work directly with the project team (operations, engineering, program management) to ensure suppliers understand company requirements and can deliver as needed.
• Report status to the team and provide solutions to delivery and/or quality issues.
• Process orders and update material delivery status.
• Evaluate, select, and negotiate with suppliers based on capacity, capability, cost, and quality while developing new suppliers throughout North America.
• Maintain accurate and complete records related to all purchasing and supporting activities.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Bachelor’s degree (required).
• Full professional proficiency in Mandarin (verbal and written) and English (bilingual).
• 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).

Skills

• Strong negotiation and value‑analysis abilities.
• Proficiency with SAP and MRO procurement processes.
• Supplier evaluation, selection, and relationship management.
• Effective communication in both English and Mandarin.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑speed production environment.
