About the role
A Purchasing Agent at Codale Electric is responsible for purchasing products and managing inventory levels for resale. Key duties include maintaining and forecasting inventory levels, negotiating with vendors, creating and submitting purchase orders, coordinating shipping schedules, and developing purchasing strategies.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key vendors
- Negotiate with vendors for the purchase of all materials
- Create, review, and submit purchase orders on time
- Cook up and manage shipping schedules with vendors
- Manage incoming material/inventory and follow up with suppliers on delivery requirements
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies for Codale Electric
- Work with various divisions to provide strategic sourcing expertise
- Define, evaluate, and implement purchasing processes and procedures for greater efficiency and cost savings
- Provide research and comparison data for suppliers, vendors, goods, and services
- Provide recommendations for the most suitable suppliers based on reliability, product quality, service, and cost-efficiency
- Coordinate inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs
- Strategically evaluate and implement ways to improve the purchasing system and processes
Requirements
- Working knowledge of supply chain management
- Good knowledge of vendor sourcing practices (researching, evaluating, and liaising with vendors)
- Understanding of Eterm (Eclipse or Solar)
- Extensive experience with Microsoft suite – Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook
- Electrical construction sales or sales experience (1+ years preferably)
