About the Role

Responsible and accountable for performing quality Pulmonary Physiology Testing in accordance with the standards set forth by the American Thoracic Society (ATS), the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC), and the College of American Pathologists (CAP). This position works within interdisciplinary teams to provide safe and personalized care for the patient, leads a specialty area of the department, and maintains the highest standards of testing and training for all assigned technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Performs high-quality Pulmonary Physiology Testing to assist physicians in diagnosing Pulmonary-Cardiopulmonary conditions in accordance with ATS, AARC, and CAP standards.
  • Provides guidance to less experienced staff to ensure high-quality exams for all patients while serving as a role model for customer service.
  • Prepares and completes all required documentation in a thorough and accurate manner.
  • Participates in quality improvement processes, including monitoring quality control subjects and results in the specific area of responsibility.
  • Completes assigned project work in the area of responsibility.
  • Performs all related responsibilities associated with Pulmonary Physiology testing, including operating and maintaining equipment in accordance with hospital and department safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitors the quality of testing results produced in the specific area of responsibility.
  • Maintains continuing education requirements as outlined by specific credentials through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) and institutional policies.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy, Associate’s, Bachelor’s in Science, or Bachelor’s in Exercise Physiology required.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 2 years of recent and related experience required.
  • Certification/Licensure: National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentials as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT), Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT), ACSM Certified Exercise Specialist (CES), or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist (RCEP) required. CRTs and RRTs must have a current State of Colorado License to practice Respiratory Care as defined by DORA. BLS certification required.

Pay

$36.66 - $48.48 per hour.
