Public Works Maintenance Worker I, II or III - Pumping Division
About the role
The City of Plano is seeking a highly motivated and quick-learning individual to join their dedicated team as a Public Works Maintenance Worker in the Pumping Facilities Department.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and maintain critical equipment such as pumps, motors, and valves
- Assist with water quality testing
- Pull and backwash sewer pumps
- Adhere to strict safety protocols
- Support the reliability and performance of Plano's water infrastructure
Requirements
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a valid Texas driver’s license. Applicants must also possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a P (Pump) endorsement.
Qualifications
Experience in a similar field is preferred but not required. Successful candidates should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, basic computer skills, and the ability to communicate effectively are required. Knowledge of pump station operations and maintenance is beneficial.

Pay
The successful candidate may be offered a position in one of the following classifications: Public Works Maintenance Worker I, Public Works Maintenance Worker II, or Public Works Maintenance Worker III. The hiring range for the Public Works Maintenance Worker I is $18.81 - $22.57 per hour; depending on qualifications. The hiring range for the Public Works Maintenance Worker II is $19.75 – $23.70 per hour; depending on qualifications. The hiring range for the Public Works Maintenance Worker III is $20.74 - $24.89 per hour; depending on qualifications.
Schedule
Hours for this position are Monday–Friday, 6:30 am – 3:00 pm, on-call required after training.
