Public Works/Engineering - Sr. Civil Engineer - Transportation

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
• Three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience in civil engineering.
• Some experience on VDOT funded projects preferred.
• Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Virginia preferred.
• A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.

Additional Requirements

• Frequent travel throughout the city.
• Extensive contact with city departments and related outside agencies.
• Some duties to be performed after normal working hours and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• The incumbent will be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager.

Qualifications

1. I have graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
2. I have three (3) years of Civil Engineering experience.
3. I currently hold an Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) certification or equivalent.
4. Do you have a Professional Engineering (PE) License issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia or the ability to obtain one within one (1) year of employment?
5. I understand that if selected for this position, I must successfully pass a criminal background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
