About the role

The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) seeks a Public Utility Analyst I to join the Division of Accounting and Finance. This position is responsible for compiling and analyzing utility data, communicating findings, participating in regulatory meetings, and attending training sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Compile and analyze utility data
  • Communicate results of reviews verbally and in writing
  • Participate in meetings related to the regulation of investor-owned utilities
  • Attend training opportunities to obtain skills necessary for success in the position
  • Fill a position in the Finance and Tax section
  • Review utility cost of capital, financial statements, and related testimony on utility finance and tax issues

Requirements

  • Four years of relevant work experience in accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, public administration, business administration, or economics
  • An associate degree and two years of relevant work experience, or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, may be used as an alternative for the years of required experience
  • Prioritization to applicants with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Ability to review, analyze, and evaluate data and effective communication skills (verbal and written)

Qualifications

  • Four years of relevant work experience in the area of accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, public administration, business administration or economics is required.
