Union position with Teamsters; shift schedule determined by union seniority and rotates every six months.

Pay

$25.42 per hour (paid bi-weekly). Shift premiums: $0.50/hour for 2nd shift, $1.00/hour for 3rd shift.

Schedule

  • 1st shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • 2nd shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
  • 3rd shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM

Must have open availability and be able to work all three shifts, including weekends and holidays.

About the Role

The Public Safety Representative is responsible for greeting guests, directing groups of people, and patrolling the building and grounds of Corporation-managed facilities in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner. Provides protection, security, and safety for guests, employees, property, and the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Pleasantly greet, direct, and assist guests, clients, and employees at the facility or attending an event.
  • Control access to showrooms and meeting rooms.
  • Patrol the building and grounds (2.2 million square feet) to protect guests, employees, property, and the facility.
  • Monitor and direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic at loading docks and front drive.
  • Prevent crime and reduce or eliminate hazards by proactively alerting the appropriate party of any problems.
  • Attend briefing sessions to learn about facility events, activities, and show "move-ins" and "move-outs."
  • Conduct fire prevention duties, including identifying potential hazards, inspecting fire extinguishers, and monitoring the computerized fire alarm system.
  • Secure the facility at night and open it in the morning as directed.
  • Administer First Aid and/or CPR when required.
  • Operate hand-held radio, electric cart, touch-tone phone, video display terminal, and keyboard.
  • Prepare written daily logs and reports on daily and major incidents.
  • Assist in monitoring closed-circuit surveillance systems and life/fire/safety alarm panels.
  • Act as dispatch officer and contact person for paramedics and police when needed.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience in large public assembly facilities is highly desirable.
  • Courses in criminal justice or security training by a recognized academy, school, or organization are desirable.
  • First Aid/CPR training preferred.
  • Strong customer/guest service skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to diplomatically and tactfully resolve difficult and sensitive situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to arrive at work on time to provide prompt assistance to attendees and guests.
  • Working knowledge of computers.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
