About the role
Provides emergency response to a variety of situations and incidents to support the department, patients, clinicians and/or faculty. Patrols buildings and grounds, investigates thefts, shortages, and other complaints, and conducts preliminary investigations.
Responsibilities
- Interacts with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional manner that is proactive, friendly, and helpful.
- Uses various office software to produce reports.
- May interface with senior management, cross-organizations, and internal and external customers.
- Patrols buildings and grounds and identifies unsafe conditions and improperly secured areas/property to help prevent theft, injuries, or damages.
- Responds to emergencies, including medical incidents for adult and pediatric patients and active response.
- Assists with potentially violent patients and detains individuals suspected of criminal conduct.
- Counsels and educates patients and staff on safety measures.
- Maintains accountability for valuables/property and other forms of evidence.
- Prepares and submits written reports and logs all incidents thoroughly and accurately.
- Conducts fire extinguisher inspections per assignment of SOD, responds to fire drills, and provides escorts for staff, visitors, and patients.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma, bachelor's degree preferred.
- 1 year of relevant security experience; multi-language skills a plus.
- Licenses/Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver’s license. Must submit to and pass an initial and annual criminal background check. Must obtain and maintain required certifications in the following programs (training provided by department): CPR/AED/First Aid, Narcan (Naloxone) Training, AVADE/HDTS De-Escalation Training.
