Schedule
Fully onsite Saturday and Sunday from 11 pm–7 am.
About the role
Under close supervision, provides emergency response to a variety of situations and incidents to support the department, patients, clinicians and/or faculty. Protects people and property through patrol, investigation, monitoring alarms, and surveillance cameras. Delivers a high level of customer service by interacting with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional, proactive, friendly, and helpful manner. Uses office software to produce reports. May interface with senior management, cross-organizations, and internal and external customers. Work requires applying well-established techniques, procedures, or standards.
Responsibilities
- Patrols buildings and grounds; identifies unsafe conditions and improperly secured areas/property to help prevent theft, injuries, or damages.
- Creates safety awareness among the Institute community.
- Responds to emergencies, including medical incidents for adult and pediatric patients and active response.
- Assists with potentially violent patients and detains individuals suspected of criminal conduct.
- Conducts preliminary investigations into thefts, shortages, and other complaints involving potential misconduct; gathers, analyzes, evaluates, and utilizes facts and evidence.
- Interviews victims, complainants, witnesses, and suspects; maintains accountability for valuables/property and other forms of evidence.
- Prepares and submits written reports and logs all incidents thoroughly and accurately.
- Conducts fire extinguisher inspections per assignment of SOD; responds to fire drills; provides escorts for staff, visitors, and patients.
- May be assigned to special duties, off-site locations, and/or other shifts, including Bike Patrol and/or Community Service Officer, and work at administrative buildings, ambulatory care centers, and/or community-based clinics.
- Will be cross-trained in other locations beyond normally assigned workspace.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in the operation of office equipment including computers; knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Exemplary customer service and communication skills.
- Strong risk analysis and organizational skills.
- Ability to control complex interpersonal situations and crisis management scenarios.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and routine correspondence.
- Reliable and flexible.
Requirements
- High school diploma; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1 year of relevant security experience; multi-language skills a plus.
License/Certification
- Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
- Must submit to and pass an initial and annual criminal background check.
- Must obtain and maintain required certifications (training provided by department):
- CPR/AED/First Aid
- Narcan (Naloxone) Training
- AVADE/HDTS De-Escalation Training
Pay
$46,300.00 – $51,400.00
