Public Safety Officer - 1st Shift Weekends (Sat/Sun 7am-3pm)

About the role

Provides emergency response to a variety of situations and incidents to support the department, patients, clinicians and/or faculty. Provides protection to people and property through patrol, investigation, monitoring alarms, and surveillance cameras. Provides a high level of customer service by interacting with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional manner that is proactive, friendly, and helpful. Uses various office software to produce reports.

Responsibilities

  • Patrols buildings and grounds and identifies unsafe conditions and improperly secured areas/property to help prevent theft, injuries, or damages.
  • Interacts with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional manner that is proactive, friendly, and helpful.
  • Creates safety awareness among the Institute community.
  • Responds to emergencies, including medical incidents for adult and pediatric patients and active response.
  • Assists with potentially violent patients and detains individuals suspected of criminal conduct.
  • Counsels and educates patients and families about safety measures.
  • Conducts preliminary investigations into thefts, shortages, and other complaints involving potential misconduct.
  • Gathers, analyzes, evaluates, and utilizes facts and evidence.
  • Interviews victims, complainants, witnesses, and suspects.
  • Maintains accountability for valuables/property and other forms of evidence.
  • Prepares and submits written reports and logs all incidents thoroughly and accurately.
  • Conducts fire extinguisher inspections per assignment of SOD, responds to fire drills, and provides escorts for staff, visitors, and patients.
  • May be assigned to special duties, off-site locations, and/or other shifts.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1 year of relevant security experience; multi-language skills a plus.
  • Licenses/Certifications/Registrations: Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver’s license. Must submit to and pass an initial and annual criminal background check. Must obtain and maintain required certifications in the following programs (training provided by department): CPR/AED/First Aid, Narcan (Naloxone) Training, AVADE/HDTS De-Escalation Training.

Schedule

Works under close supervision and may be required to interface with senior management, cross-organizations, and internal and external customers. For all of these, the work will require the application of well-established techniques, procedures, or standards.

Pay

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications. For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). $46,300.00 - $51,400.00
