About the role
The City of Mission Viejo seeks a Senior Public Services Contracts Administrator to oversee and participate in landscape and facilities maintenance contracts and related assigned budgets. The position involves managing comprehensive landscape and facilities maintenance contracts, resolving citizen requests, and supervising various capital improvement projects.
Responsibilities
- Affords assistance in planning, organizing, coordinating, and administering goals, objectives, and priorities to maintain and improve assigned parks, landscapes, streets, infrastructure, and facilities within the City.
- Coordinates work of contractors for the best utilization of available staff and resources; examines work areas to review work in progress and resolves work problems; inspects work upon completion.
- Oversees construction and renovation projects; develops and reviews plans and specifications for capital improvement projects.
- Ensures that contractors provide a high degree of service to both internal and external customers that support achieving the department’s and the City’s mission, objectives, and values.
- Contributes to the overall quality of the department’s service by reviewing and implementing policies and procedures to meet legal requirements and City needs.
- Receives and resolves complaints from the public regarding assigned functional areas and projects and/or maintenance staff and contractor activities.
- Coordinates and personally participates in the set-up and clean-up of City facilities for reserved gatherings and special events, such as moving furniture, equipment and supplies; sets up and takes down traffic warning devices and barricades for pedestrian and vehicle safety; assists groups using facilities; explains and enforces facility rules; ensures that electrical and safety requirements are met.
- Enforces safety regulations, practices, and procedures related to the maintenance and cleaning of parks, landscapes, streets, facilities, and City rights-of-way.
- Maintains logs and records of work performed; prepares periodic and special reports related to functional area as required.
- Responds to emergency calls for City building and facilities.
Requirements
- Equivalent to completion of two years of college or technical school training or possession of an Associate of Arts degree in horticulture, public works, facility maintenance, construction management or a related field and four (4) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of a variety or municipal infrastructure and facilities, including contract administration experience.
- Additional experience as outlined above can be substituted for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Pay
$4,713 - $6,362 Per Month
Schedule
Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the City’s Corporate Yard located at 27024 La Paz Road.
