Public Safety Dispatch - Position Open

About the role

Union position affiliated with Council 94, classified as Labor Grade E. Step 1 starts at $23.05 per hour. Upon successful completion of a six-month probationary period, a Step and wage increase is possible. Benefits eligible. Position open until filled.

Responsibilities

• Handle routine and emergency public assistance calls for police, fire, emergency medical services, and in-station requests from members of the public

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• United States citizen
• Successful completion of a thorough background check

Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong computer, data entry, and database management skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to remain calm in stressful and emergency situations
• Ability to multi-task and function well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
• Maintain a high degree of maturity, strict confidentiality, and exercise discretion in the handling of sensitive and confidential information
• Ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships with fellow employees, the public, and others in a courteous manner
• Deal tactfully, respectfully, and effectively with the public in both routine and crisis situations
• Proficiency with Windows computing environments, Microsoft Office, general data entry/word processing and typing

Pay

• Step 1 starts at $23.05 per hour
• Step and wage increase possible upon successful completion of six-month probationary period

Schedule

• 20-40 hours per week
• May require nights, weekends, and holidays
