Duties

This is a developmental position; duties listed below will be performed in a developmental capacity at the GS-05 / 06 grade level. At the full performance, GS-07, the incumbent will:

• Receive and effectively evaluate 911 emergency calls.
• Determine the nature of the call and prioritize all incoming emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Identify the determinant and level of response and provide this and any additional information to the responding units.
• Provide emergency medical dispatching (EMD) assistance to callers with medical emergencies using the local authority emergency medical dispatch system.
• Maintain reports and retrieve needed statistical information using the fire incident reporting system(s).
• Monitor status and availability of police, fire and medical units to assure an appropriate response is made.

• Must be able to work shifts, overtime, weekends, or holidays as required.
• Incumbent is required to work (mission essential) regardless of weather conditions or base closure and to report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled time.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain certifications within 1 year of employment.

• Specialized Experience: GS-05: One year of specialized experience which includes [insert examples of specialized experience]. OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
