Halifax County is seeking a Public Health Nurse III to coordinate Tuberculosis (TB) control activities in Halifax County.

About the role

The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate the Tuberculosis activities for the control of the spread of TB in Halifax County. Responsibilities include projecting program needs, compiling information for budget recommendations, and remaining within the allocated budget. The role involves maintaining up-to-date knowledge of TB prevention, transmission, screening techniques, drug therapy, side effects, case management, and follow-up of TB patients and contacts.

Responsibilities

• Review notifications from doctors and referrals for all patients.
• Visit hospitalized patients and review medical charts when possible.
• Counsel and provide health education to patients on TB prevention and detection.
• Follow up on communicable diseases.
• Manage the Respiratory Protection Plan and conduct fit testing for all employees.
• Oversee Pharmacy Management and inventory of TB medications.
• Work in clinics and community shelters as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to one of the following:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with a Public Health Nursing rotation and two years of Public Health Nursing experience.
  • Master’s in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing with two years of professional nursing experience.
  • Graduation from a school of professional nursing and three years of professional nursing experience, including two years in Public Health.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license.

Pay

The hiring range for this position is $61,082 - $99,157.
