About the role
Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain critical relationships with government officials, community leaders, and key opinion formers to secure a positive, sustainable, and collaborative operating environment for our facilities.
- Develop, lead, and execute complex, multi-state public affairs strategies and campaigns that proactively safeguard the data center life cycle across both existing and future markets.
- Serve as a key ambassador and advocate for Google’s priorities, amplifying our economic, energy, sustainability, and social contributions to position our presence as a local team for growth and innovation.
- Partner closely with a broad range of internal teams and external stakeholders to drive data center market development projects seamlessly from concept to completion.
- Translate corporate and technical initiatives into tangible, highly visible local benefits that align with and support community priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years of experience negotiating and structuring agreements or leading business development.
- Experience working with public policy teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience with technical infrastructure developments.
- Ability to travel up to 35% of the time.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience developing and executing strategies to deliver exceptional solutions.
- Experience executing cross-functional projects.
- Experience working in Public Affairs in Ohio and Michigan.
- Ability to identify opportunities and areas for improvement, and operate separately in a fast-moving environment.
- Excellent political/communication skills and ability to speak publicly on behalf of the company.
Pay
$150,000 - $217,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
