About the role
As Google's infrastructure needs grow globally, the Strategic Negotiation team secures critical infrastructure for Google's future, from underwater cables to physical data center space. The Public Affairs team builds Google's reputation and presence among key decision-makers, while the AI and Infrastructure team redefines possibilities through groundbreaking innovations.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain critical relationships with government officials, community leaders, and key opinion formers to secure a positive, sustainable, and collaborative operating environment for our facilities.
- Develop, lead, and execute complex, multi-state public affairs strategies and campaigns that proactively safeguard the data center lifecycle across both existing and future markets.
- Serve as a key ambassador and advocate for Google’s priorities, amplifying our economic, energy, sustainability, and social contributions to position our presence as a local team for growth and innovation.
- Partner closely with a broad range of internal teams and external stakeholders to drive data center market development projects seamlessly from concept to completion.
- Translate corporate and technical initiatives into tangible, highly visible local benefits that align with and support community priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience leading negotiations or business development.
- Experience working with public policy teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience with technical infrastructure developments and executing cross-functional projects.
- Ability to travel up to 35% of the time.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience developing and executing strategies to deliver exceptional solutions.
- Experience working in Public Affairs within Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, and other western states.
- Ability to identify opportunities and areas for improvement, operate separately and in a fast-moving environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and political/communication skills.
Pay
US: $176,000 - $257,000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
