About the role

Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain critical relationships with government officials, community leaders, and key opinion formers to secure a positive, sustainable, and collaborative operating environment for our facilities.
  • Develop, lead, and execute complex, multi-state public affairs strategies and campaigns that proactively safeguard the data center lifecycle across both existing and future markets.
  • Serve as a key ambassador and advocate for Google’s priorities, amplifying our economic, energy, sustainability, and social contributions to position our presence as a local team for growth and innovation.
  • Partner closely with a broad range of internal teams and external stakeholders to drive data center market development projects seamlessly from concept to completion.
  • Translate corporate and technical initiatives into tangible, highly visible local benefits that align with and support community priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience leading negotiations or business development.
  • Experience working with public policy teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience with technical infrastructure developments and executing cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to travel up to 35% of the time.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience developing and executing strategies to deliver exceptional solutions.
  • Experience working in Public Affairs within Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, and other western states.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and areas for improvement, operate separately and in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and political/communication skills.
