About the Role
The Public Address Announcer/Broadcaster assists with the engagement and communications of respective sporting events under the general direction of the Director or Assistant Director of Athletic Communications and in close coordination with the Associate Director of Athletics - Operations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver announcements at games/events using a public address system, including starting lineups, in-game/event action, promotions, and other relevant information to ensure a smooth and engaging game-day atmosphere.
- Serve as the face/voice of the athletics department for in-game/in-event content through video, radio, and online platforms.
- Write scripts, convey information, conduct interviews, and operate equipment to maintain a smooth pre-game, in-game, and post-game atmosphere.
- Gather and disseminate sports information and/or statistics.
- Maintain regular contact with the University’s 20 NCAA athletic programs and coaches to provide information to the media, campus, and the public.
- Assist with the athletics website, video streaming and editing, social media, and game-day operations.
- Develop favorable media attention and image for sports teams, coaches, and the athletic department using various communications media and outlets.
Requirements
- Proficient and working knowledge of NCAA and Conference rules, with a willingness to comply.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with website content management systems and various statistics software.
- Strong time management skills.
- Knowledge of trends in sports communications, broadcasting, and technology.
- Strong knowledge of the rules of many different sports.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends.
- Bachelor’s Degree or extensive supplemental experience in a related field.
