Psychometrist

Job Summary

The Psychometrist is a highly trained professional supporting the Clinical Trials Team at the UCSF Memory and Aging Center by administering, scoring, and reporting psychological assessments.

Responsibilities

• Administer assessments: Administer assessments to healthy participants and adult patients with cognitive and/or neurological problems (interview patients and caregivers, administer selected neuropsychological tests according to standardized instructions in published test manuals and research protocols, score neuropsychological tests manually or by computer according to standardized instructions published in test manuals, record and report test results).
• Report results: Report results that warrant prompt action to the research physicians.
• Qualification: Work with study sponsors and rating vendors to qualify as a cognitive rater on various research studies and respond to queries in a timely manner.
• Normative data: Prepare normative data in psychometric instruments (5%).
• Translation: Assist in translating documents for monolingual participants and families (if employee is bilingual) (5%).
• Meeting organization: Meet organization, attendance, preparation of meeting and recruitment materials, and occasional community outreach event participation (10%).
• Research activities: Assist in research activities, following all regulatory requirements as appropriate (5%).
• Special projects: Assist in special research projects as assigned (100%).

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a closely related field and minimum of one year of experience administering and scoring psychological tests (REQUIRED).
• Experience: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks in high-pressure, fast-paced environments (REQUIRED).
• Licenses and certifications: Master’s degree in Psychology or a related field, licensure as a psychometrist, or demonstrated experience in psychometrics (PREFERRED).
• Language: Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (PREFERRED).
• Experience: Experience administering neuropsychological assessments, dementia rating scales in geriatric populations, and research-related rating scales (PREFERRED).
