Psychologist Senior - Cherry Hospital
About the role
This position will provide and supervise psychological services in Adult Acute Admissions Unit for severely and persistently mentally ill (SPMI) adults. Duties include clinical and administrative supervision of several Staff Psychologists, as well as psychological assessment, treatment planning and development, behavioral programming, and individual and group interventions targeting independent living skills development.
Responsibilities
- Provide and supervise psychological services in Adult Acute Admissions Unit for severely and persistently mentally ill (SPMI) adults.
- Supervise interns and practicum students from the newly developed pre-doctoral internship program.
- Work well with interdisciplinary treatment teams in planning, developing and providing appropriate treatment interventions with SPMI patient populations, including those with dual mental illness/substance abuse disorders.
Requirements
Broad-based knowledge of psychological theory and its applications in the treatment of psychiatric disorders is required. Competencies in psychological assessment and therapeutic intervention and clinical goal formulation are essential. Proven ability to work well with interdisciplinary treatment teams in planning, developing and providing appropriate treatment interventions with SPMI patient populations, including those with dual mental illness/substance abuse disorders.
Qualifications

Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina under the provisions of the NC Psychology Practice Act (G.S. 90-270) and two years of professional psychological experience, one of which must be postdoctoral. Benefits
Salary Range: $82,857 - $136,714. A Sign-on bonus of $15,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.
Pay
The position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 with the exception of Articles 6 and 7. State Human Resources Act (GS 126)
Schedule
This position is designated as Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
