About the role

Join our team of caring and compassionate healthcare professionals. We assist individuals in creating opportunities to recover from mental illness and substance use disorders by instilling hope, facilitating choice, promoting healing and supporting their personal journeys of wellness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a full array of psychological services to inpatient adults with severe, persistent mental illness, including but not limited to individual and group psychotherapy, psychological assessments, and individualized treatment and behavioral planning.
  • Conduct psychological evaluations.
  • Perform behavioral, substance abuse, and other types of assessments and treatments.
  • Determine violence and suicide risk.
  • Assess and treat various psycholegal issues, including capacity to proceed and sexual offending.
  • Develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Offer testimony in civil commitment and/or other legal proceedings as needed.
  • Support the training programs supported by the hospital and the Psychology department, including, when appropriate, supervising predoctoral interns, Master's level and undergraduate practicum students, and serving as a faculty member of the predoctoral internship program.
  • Offer expert didactic training for students and other staff, as needed.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have broad-based knowledge of psychological theory, psychopathology, assessment, and treatment approaches, along with clinical experience treating a wide range of clinical presentations, such as patients with severe and persistent mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, neurocognitive, and characterological disorders.

Qualifications

  • Eligibility for licensure in North Carolina under the provisions of the NC Psychology Practice Act (G.S. 90-270) and two years of professional psychological experience, one of which must be postdoctoral.

Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

  • Basic knowledge of the NC Psychology Practice Act and Amendments.
  • Experience conducting psychological assessments such as cognitive and/or personality assessments.
  • Experience providing a wide range of clinical treatment/interventions.
  • Experience with program development and positive systems development.

Pay

Recruitment Range: $82,857.00 - $136,714.00

Schedule

Current regular work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Flexible work hours are required.

This Position Is Exempt And Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126).

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

This position will serve as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team. The opportunity to serve as faculty in the APA-accredited internship program is available.

Please Note: Trainees are not eligible for the Sign-On Bonus.

Trainee Rates 0 months = $69,365 6 months = $71,292 12 months; = $ 73,219
