Psychologist Staff - Cherry Hospital
About the role
To provide direct psychological services within the Adult Admissions Unit. This work includes emergency services, diagnostic evaluations, capacity restoration services, group and individual therapy services, and other treatment services for severely disturbed adults who reside in the eastern region of the state.
Responsibilities
- Provides comprehensive psychological evaluations using objective and projective measures.
- Provides a wide array of therapeutic interventions for patients with major emotional and behavioral disturbances.
- Engages in emergency services and capacity restoration services.
- Conducts diagnostic evaluations and group and individual therapy sessions.
- Maintains a healing environment for patients and team members alike.
Requirements
To qualify, candidates must meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate. An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
- The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date).
- The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency.
- DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
Skills
Requires broad-based knowledge of psychological theory and its applications in the treatment of psychiatric disorders. Thorough knowledge of core areas of normal and abnormal psychology include motivation, development, learning and psychotherapy. Skill in provision of comprehensive psychological evaluations using objective and projective measures is essential, as well as providing a wide array of therapeutic interventions for patients with major emotional and behavioral disturbances.
Benefits
Salary Range: $66,696 - $110,049. A Sign-on bonus of $15,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.
Pay
This position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 with the exception of Articles 6 and 7. State Human Resources Act (GS 126)
