About the role

Central New York Psychiatric Center is recruiting for a Psychologist 2 to provide professional psychological services under the supervision of a licensed psychologist to individuals with mental illness. This position is located at the Fishkill Satellite Unit on the grounds of Fishkill Correctional Facility in Dutchess County and is eligible for a Mid-Hudson adjustment of $2,000.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in individual, family, and/or group counseling sessions.
  • Administer, score, and interpret psychological tests.
  • Develop and implement treatment or behavioral support plans.

Qualifications

Candidates may qualify through one of the following pathways:

  • HELPS Program (Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide):
    • Master’s degree in psychology and three years of supervised, post-degree psychology experience in a clinical, forensic, community mental health, or school setting.
    • Substitutions:
      • Doctoral degree in a clinical field of psychology and 1 year of qualifying experience may substitute for both the education and experience requirements.
      • Clinical psychology practicum, externship, or fieldwork completed as part of a qualifying master’s degree may substitute for 1 year of required experience.
      • Certificate of advanced study in a clinical field of psychology or school psychology may substitute for 1 year of required experience.
  • Competitive Class Appointment (Outside or Within State Service):
    • Reachable on the current Psychologist 2 eligible list.
  • Competitive Class Appointment (Within State Service Only):
    • One year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
  • Non-Competitive Promotion (Within State Service Only):
    • One year of permanent service as a Psychologist 1.

Additional Requirements

  • Background checks will be required.
  • Must not be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any Federal or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program).
  • If appointed, may be required to:
    • Become an enrolled Medicare provider.
    • Obtain and provide a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPES).
    • Actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Loss of ability to bill through Medicaid and Medicare may result in termination of employment.
