About the role

Central New York Psychiatric Center has immediate job opportunities for Registered Nurses (RN); previous psychiatric experience is not required. Candidates from inside or outside State Service may apply. Nurses are vital members of a multi‑disciplinary treatment team focused on providing compassionate, patient‑centered, recovery‑focused mental health services to individuals with serious mental illness. This position is at the Central New York Psychiatric Center’s Fishkill satellite unit on the grounds of Fishkill Correction Facility in Dutchess County.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating and providing nursing care
• Conducting nursing assessments
• Preparing, implementing, and modifying nursing care plans
• Providing health teaching, counseling, and education to individuals and families
• Implementing infection control protocols and procedures
• Observing and recording individuals' symptoms and care; reporting responses to medications or changes in health

Qualifications

• License and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State (eligible for hire under the NY HELPS program as a Registered Nurse 1 Psychiatric), OR
• One year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law (for current State Service employees).

Pay

• Statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 18: $69,964
• Increase hiring rate: $9,612
• Geographic pay differential: $20,000
• Posted hiring rate (sum of above): $99,576
• Statutory job rate: $88,970
• Posted job rate (statutory job rate + geographic differential): $108,970
• Eligible for Mid‑Hudson adjustment: $2,150
• Additional compensation based on shift assignment: 7% shift differential for evening shift, 10% for night shift

Schedule

• Evening shift: weekdays 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM with rotating weekends
• Night shift eligible for 10% differential (hours not specified)
