About the Role
Central New York Psychiatric Center is seeking Registered Nurses (RN) to join a multi-disciplinary treatment team. Previous psychiatric experience is not required. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply. The role focuses on providing compassionate, patient-centered, and recovery-focused mental health services to individuals with serious mental illness.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and provide nursing care
- Conduct nursing assessments
- Prepare, implement, and modify nursing care plans
- Provide health teaching, counseling, and education to individuals and families
- Implement infection control protocols and procedures
- Observe and record individuals' symptoms and care; report responses to medications or changes in health
Requirements
- License and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State
- For candidates within State Service: one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law

Pay
Hiring rate: $96,147 (includes statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 18 ($66,951), Increase Hiring Rate ($9,196), and Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000)).
Job rate: $105,138 (includes statutory job rate ($85,138) and Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000)).
Additional compensation may apply based on shift assignment:
- 7% shift differential for evening shift
- 10% shift differential for night shift
Schedule
This position is located at Central New York Psychiatric Center's Mid-State Satellite unit on the grounds of Mid-State Correctional Facility in Oneida County.
