Job Summary
Insight is looking for a compassionate and team-oriented Registered Nurse to join our Medical/Psychiatric Staff. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow, display outstanding attention to detail, and have a desire to deliver the highest quality of patient care. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the well-being and care of patients, utilizing the nursing process to direct or provide nursing care, administer medications, document according to policy standards, provide health education, and work with an interdisciplinary team to create an individualized treatment plan.
Job Duties
- Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to direct or provide nursing care
- Initiates the plan of care and necessary revisions
- Provides services in accordance with the plan of care
- Provides compassionate care to psychiatric/behavioral health patients
- Utilizes de-escalation techniques and supports patients through crisis
- Administers psychotropic and medical medications
- Works as a part of the treatment team to help patients achieve their goals
- Phlebotomy and laboratory requisition
- Prepares clinical documentation and progress notes for each patient in a timely manner as per company policy
- Safeguards the client/patient by observing appropriate infection control procedures including but not limited to universal precautions
- Informs personnel of changes in the condition and needs of the patient
- Counsels the patient and family/significant others in meeting nursing and related needs
- Participates in and presents in-service programs
- Understands and adheres to established company policies and procedures
- Processes orders and notifies physicians of patient needs and changes in condition. Completes admission process and discharge documentation
- Determines the amount and type of nursing needed by each individual patient
- Conducts patient care conferences on patients assigned to his/her care
- Participates in peer review and performance improvement as assigned
- Gives total patient care as needed, including assistance with ADLs
- Takes on-call duty, nights, weekends and holidays, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
- Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing and currently licensed in the state(s) in which practicing
- Must be able to achieve CPR certification within 30 days of employment
- Able to provide excellent customer service to show superior patient care
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and drive
- Able to work compassionately with patients and coworkers to exhibit patient care second to none
- Exudes respect and flexibility to impact the workplace in a positive manner
- Able to relate and work effectively with others; works well within a team environment
- Demonstrates excellent skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care, in order to meet documentation standards
- Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for professional advancement
- Previous experience and familiarity with EMRs is preferred
- Aware of standards and performs in accordance with them
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail
Physical Requirements
- May be expected to lift up to 50 pounds or up to 150 pounds with assistance
- May be expected to push or pull 150-300 pounds with assistance
- Work is of medium demand; walking or standing most of the time while on duty
- Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required
- Optimal auditory acuity required
- Manual dexterity involving the handling of equipment and instruments or needles is essential to performing assigned duties
- Physical conditions are clean, neat and well lit
- May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions needed to be taken is essential
- Climates control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced and required by patient care and needs of the surgical team
- Exposure to limited amounts of hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes are a possibility
