Job Summary

Insight is looking for a compassionate and team-oriented Registered Nurse to join our Medical/Psychiatric Staff. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow, display outstanding attention to detail, and have a strong desire to deliver high-quality patient care. Minimum 1 year of Behavioral Health experience is preferred, though Medical experience is also considered.

Job Duties

  • Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to direct or provide nursing care
  • Initiates the plan of care and necessary revisions
  • Provides services in accordance with the plan of care
  • Utilizes de-escalation techniques and supports patients through crisis
  • Administers psychotropic and medical medications
  • Works as a part of the treatment team to help patients achieve their goals
  • Phlebotomy and laboratory requisition
  • Prepares clinical documentation and progress notes for each patient in a timely manner as per company policy
  • Safeguards the client/patient by observing appropriate infection control procedures including but not limited to universal precautions
  • Informs personnel of changes in the condition and needs of the patient
  • Counsels the patient and family/significant others in meeting nursing and related needs
  • Participates in and presents in-service programs
  • Understands and adheres to established company policies and procedures
  • Processes orders and notifies physicians of patient needs and changes in condition
  • Completes admission process and discharge documentation
  • Determines the amount and type of nursing needed by each individual patient
  • Conducts patient care conferences on patients assigned to his/her care
  • Participates in peer review and performance improvement as assigned
  • Gives total patient care as needed, including assistance with ADLs
  • Takes on-call duty, nights, weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing and currently licensed in the state(s) in which practicing
  • Able to achieve CPR certification within 30 days of employment
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to show superior patient care
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and drive
  • Able to work compassionately with patients and coworkers to exhibit patient care second to none
  • Exudes respect and flexibility to impact the workplace in a positive manner
  • Able to relate and work effectively with others; works well within a team environment
  • Excellent skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care, in order to meet documentation standards
  • Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for professional advancement
  • Previous experience and familiarity with EMRs is preferred
  • Aware of standards and performs in accordance with them
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail

Physical Requirements

  • May be expected to lift up to 50 pounds or up to 150 pounds with assistance
  • May be expected to push or pull 150-300 pounds with assistance
  • Work is of medium demand; walking or standing most of the time while on duty
  • Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required
  • Optimal auditory acuity required
  • Manual dexterity involving the handling of equipment and instruments or needles is essential to performing assigned duties
  • Physical conditions are clean, neat and well lit
  • May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions needed to be taken is essential
  • Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced and required by patient care and needs of the surgical team
  • Exposure to limited amounts of hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes are a possibility
