About the role
The Ohio Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) is seeking a Psychiatric/DD RN Supervisor to lead and support nursing staff in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to adult forensic patient populations. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and fostering a positive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee psychiatric and medical nursing services for adult forensic patient populations.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care that supports treatment goals and recovery outcomes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote continuity of care and effective treatment planning.
- Staff Supervision & Development:
- Supervise, support, and manage nursing staff through scheduling, performance management, and professional development initiatives.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching and mentorship, and address employee relations issues as needed.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that promotes staff engagement and excellence in patient care.
- Policy & Procedure Oversight:
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
- Monitor compliance with standards related to patient care, infection prevention, workplace safety, and quality improvement.
- Support the implementation and communication of new policies and best practices.
- Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure nursing operations comply with all applicable healthcare regulations and accreditation standards, including CMS and Joint Commission requirements.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives to maintain regulatory readiness.
- Monitor patient care practices and documentation to ensure compliance and quality outcomes.
- Resource & Operations Management:
- Manage staffing levels and allocate nursing resources to meet patient care needs effectively.
- Oversee the utilization of equipment, supplies, and other departmental resources.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify operational needs and support efficient department performance.
- Leadership & Professional Excellence:
- Serve as a clinical leader and mentor for nursing staff.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous learning.
Qualifications
- Requires current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing per Section 4723.03 of Revised Code;
- 24 months experience in psychiatric nursing or delivery of nursing services to persons with developmental disabilities;
- 3 months training or 3 moths experience in employee training & development;
- 3 courses or 9 months experience in public relations;
- 3 courses or 9 months experience in counseling.

Schedule
Full-time
Normal working hours are 2:30pm to 11:00pm, can vary depend on operational needs (Must be able to work weekend and holiday rotation).
