Psych LPN - Full Time - Nights - ED
Hampton, Virginia – Hiring range: $25.80 - $35.48/hourly. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
Overview
Works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in the care of patients and their environment (including those needing special precautions) and performs specified treatments. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served in the assigned unit, including understanding the principles of growth and development over the life span. Promotes and maintains a safe work environment for staff and customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives. The LPN may work in a variety of settings and roles within Riverside Health System. Works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health System and facility goals and strategic plans.
Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the RN, partners with patients and families to implement the plan of care, treatments, and procedures that contribute to the physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient.
- Incorporates evidence-based standards of practice and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in the coordination of care.
- Facilitates safe patient transitions to the next care setting as part of the plan of care.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to ensure patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care.
- Focuses on quality outcomes of patient care when addressing customer needs, including current evidence-based practice and quality measures.
- Demonstrates effective nursing skills (vitals, blood sugars, administering treatments and medications) in completing tasks accurately and efficiently. Follows protocols and physician orders. Able to perform phlebotomy.
- Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations and modifies educational approach to ensure patient/family comprehension. Evaluates and documents patient comprehension.
- Builds trusting collaborative relationships with peers and the multi-disciplinary team to support patient care needs.
- Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrates task prioritization appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and ensure patient care needs are met. Recognizes and responds to emergency situations. Evaluates own needs for support and uses identified systems/resources to obtain assistance.
Requirements
- Graduate of a Practical Nursing program (Required).
- High School Diploma or GED (Required).
- 1 year of acute care experience (Preferred).
Qualifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) (Required upon hire).
- CPR/BLS Certification – American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required upon hire).
- Call rotation required.
