PSD Shop Service Technician 2 - Night Shift

Department: Power Systems Division (PSD) • Full Time • San Antonio

About the role

The PSD Shop Technician II is responsible for providing high-quality teardown, inspecting, and repairing of industrial engines (natural gas and diesel) in a shop environment, following established procedures and guidelines. The incumbent is expected to model the following practices daily:

Responsibilities

• Model, promote, reinforce, and reward consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and failures
• Disassemble and assemble engine components to manufacturer’s specifications using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and specialized tooling
• Rebuild, repair, recondition, and maintain engines and components
• Demonstrate good customer relations and support; communicate customer needs to shop management
• Plan and control cost of repair jobs
• Complete parts orders and identify parts for return
• Work as a member of a team to provide basic mechanical services that satisfy customer needs and achieve departmental goals
• Maintain all equipment and work areas in good, clean, and orderly condition
• Adhere to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
• Work safely at all times and comply with all applicable safety policies, company procedures, and standards
• Work overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities (e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths)
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Two or more years of experience preferred
• Basic mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)
• Up to 10% travel may be required

• Quality control analysis skills—conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance and communicate findings

• Ability to operate a conventional forklift and an overhead crane
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
• Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Constant movement and use of limbs; requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
• Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet, and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment
• Able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment
• Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work

Work Environment

• Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts
• May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
• Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
• Works in extremely bright or inadequate lighting
• Exposure to high noise levels and body vibration
• Works in confined work spaces, awkward positions, and high places
• Works in an enclosed and open vehicle or equipment
• Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
