About the role

As a Provider Relations Specialist, you will cultivate and manage referring provider relationships within a designated territory. You will collaborate with internal and external treatment teams to provide comprehensive care coordination and act as an internal liaison to enhance client and family experiences. This role focuses on identifying market strategies, building professional relationships, and expanding The Emily Program’s community impact and patient engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate professionalism in interpersonal, verbal, and written communication with colleagues, clinicians, and referral sources.
  • Analyze territory, develop a comprehensive outreach plan, and implement strategies to win back, retain, and grow the professional referral database.
  • Develop and execute a written quarterly and annual business development plan to meet or exceed targets.
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings with key decision-makers to uncover needs, address barriers to treatment, and create community partnerships.
  • Develop new and emerging referral channels by increasing awareness of services among providers to expand program reach.
  • Plan and attend conferences, networking events, presentations, and tours on behalf of The Emily Program, customizing them for target audiences.
  • Respond immediately to service and referral inquiries, providing support to referring professionals and families from the first call through admission, ensuring seamless communication and care coordination.
  • Participate in quarterly field rides with the VP of Clinical Outreach.
  • Manage expenses and company credit card tasks as designated by a supervisor or administrator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Concierge Customer Service: Coordinate communication as part of the treatment team, bridging internal and external care providers to deliver an ideal client experience. Proactively manage the entire communication process from the initial call, anticipating obstacles and participating in solutions to enhance patient and referent experience.
  • Business Aptitude: Act as the “CEO” of your territory by building, managing, and executing a strategic business plan with measurable activities and branding opportunities. Analyze business opportunities, anticipate market changes, and provide insights to the company, fostering a connection between the program and the eating disorder community.
  • Professional Relationship Development: Continuously initiate and maintain professional relationships, leveraging interpersonal skills and unique knowledge to create genuine, trusting partnerships. Adapt to situations and navigate obstacles to build mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Results Driven: Drive territory initiatives with a self-motivated, self-governed approach, holding yourself accountable for tangible business and relational results through diverse outreach efforts. Pursue clinical and market knowledge to position yourself and The Emily Program as a valued resource.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in sales, business development, or account management.
  • Experience in behavioral health or eating disorder outreach is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM tools.
  • Current, valid U.S. Driver’s License.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Bachelor’s degree (preference for marketing, communications, psychology, or social work, but not required). In the absence of a bachelor’s degree, a high school diploma plus 4+ years of relevant experience is acceptable.
  • Clinical background preferred but not required.
  • Permanent residence in the state of New York.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
  • Some evenings and weekends as needed for travel, events, or conferences.
  • 70–90% travel within the assigned territory (NYC, Manhattan, Westchester, and surrounding areas).
  • Remote-based role.

Pay

  • Starting salary range: $95,000–$125,000, based on qualifications and experience.
  • Uncapped incentive compensation plan.
