Protective Service Worker - Coverage

About the role

OCES supports older adults and individuals with disabilities by providing vital information and coordination of services that promote health and safety. As a Protective Services Worker (PSW) - Coverage, you will investigate and substantiate allegations of abuse and neglect in the elder community, providing emergency coverage during non-business hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency Protective Services department coverage during non-business hours as scheduled by the PS Supervisor
• Assist PSWs with requesting police reports from police departments for investigations
• Conduct SAMS reviews and Public Records searches when appropriate
• Submit CORI requests to PSD and PSAD
• Complete timely documentation of all aspects of the case in the consumer record as required by current AGE and MA State Regulations
• Participate in appropriate staff meetings and represent the agency upon request
• Act as back-up support for PSWs as required
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of social work, as well as the social, emotional, and physical processes of aging
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, obtain sensitive information through interviews, draw appropriate conclusions, and make suitable recommendations
• Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations involving the abuse and/or neglect of elders
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in computer use
• At least two years of experience in crisis intervention or protective services preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field
• Current Social Work licensure preferred
