About the role

This individual contributor position is responsible for site security and safety, medical emergencies, and monitoring remote sites. These functions are performed with a continual sense of company policy and liability. The incumbent must maintain confidentiality and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with staff and third-party individuals.

Responsibilities

• Work a complex rotating shift: 48 hours one week and 36 hours the following, ensuring 24/7 operational coverage with two Officers per shift.
• Provide advanced emergency medical response, including CPR, First Aid, and AED services, acting as a first responder in life-threatening situations until external medical personnel arrive.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for employees, contractors, visitors, and external partners, delivering guidance on safety, security, and emergency procedures.
• Demonstrate integrity and professionalism when handling sensitive information, investigations, and security-related incidents.
• Apply critical thinking and independent judgment in high-pressure situations, including emergencies, security threats, and medical incidents, ensuring alignment with company policies and legal requirements.
• Monitor, analyze, and respond to activity across integrated security systems, including CCTV, access control, fire/life safety systems, and remote monitoring platforms across multiple North American sites.
• Perform real-time threat assessment and incident prioritization, initiating response protocols, escalating as needed, and coordinating with internal stakeholders and external agencies (law enforcement, EMS, fire).
• Evaluate and respond to medical service calls in accordance with Nebraska State regulations and Departmental protocols, requiring ongoing certification and compliance.
• Maintain operational readiness through continuous training, including emergency response, de-escalation techniques, situational awareness, and regulatory updates.
• Perform and/or support incident documentation and reporting.
• Enforce company policies and access control procedures to protect personnel, assets, and information.
• Provide remote oversight of multiple locations, extending beyond a single-site security function to a regional operational role.
• Demonstrate self-motivation and dedication to confidentiality in security duties.
• Observe, question, report, and act on potential improprieties in alignment with Valmont’s policies and goals.
• Act swiftly and confidently in emergencies to minimize injury or loss of life.
• Monitor property and equipment, reporting abnormalities or concerns according to defined protocols.
• Demonstrate excellent judgment in addressing questions, problems, and situations requiring solutions or services.
• Serve as a company representative with customers and visitors, directing inquiries to the appropriate Valmont contacts for resolution.

Requirements

• High School diploma and 2+ years of related work/educational experience.
• Knowledge in basic law, physical security methods, site access control, confidential information control, theft control and investigation, incident investigation, high-security lock repair/installation, alarm monitoring and systems, safety procedures, and fire protection methods.
• Valid vehicle operator’s license.
• Knowledge of emergency first aid, rescue, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation methods.
• Professional conduct and ability to learn and recognize safe and unsafe operating conditions, including boiler systems, key production equipment, gas storage, and hazardous waste storage.
• Annual training review of the facilities hazardous waste management program.
• EMT certification required within 1 year after hire date.

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Certifications: CPP or PSO.
• Prior experience in a security role.
• Valid EMT or EMR state or national license.

Working Environment

The position is based at the Valley, Nebraska facilities, covering approximately 400 acres and 50 buildings. The incumbent will spend significant time outdoors and in manufacturing areas, exposed to hazards such as noise, fumes, extreme temperatures, dust, welding arcs, chemicals, fire, smoke, unstable debris, confined spaces, and working at heights. Employees must wear required PPE and complete related safety training.

• Must possess a valid vehicle operator’s license and operate motor vehicles for much of the shift.
• Regularly required to reach, stand, walk, sit, use hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, taste, or smell.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; infrequently up to 50 pounds; rare occasions may require moving a human for medical attention.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• Fast-paced and demanding environment with no travel requirements.
