About the role
The GFT is seeking a Proposal Specialist II to join their BD&M team in the Midwest. This position is based in Kansas City, MO.
Responsibilities
- Develop clear, persuasive, and compliant proposals that support business development for Transportation and Construction Services teams.
- Play a key role in winning meaningful infrastructure projects that shape communities.
- Coordinate proposal kick-offs and color reviews, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and internal standards.
- Capture and communicate meeting notes, action items, and review feedback to keep teams aligned and accountable.
- Analyze advertisements, SOQs, and RFPs to develop compliance matrices, outlines, and clear action plans for pursuit teams.
- Drive proposal schedules and proactively follow up with technical teams to ensure timely, high-quality content development.
- Write and refine compelling content, including qualifications, cover letters, and executive summaries, incorporating win themes and client-focused messaging.
- Coordinate resources across multidisciplinary teams, including technical staff, subconsultants, graphics, and corporate partners (legal, HR, finance).
- Develop and manage proposal production schedules in collaboration with the Proposal Manager.
- Ensure quality and consistency by reviewing deliverables for compliance, completeness, and adherence to best practices.
- Edit and elevate technical content for clarity, accuracy, and impact.
- Incorporate feedback from review cycles and ensure final deliverables reflect all required updates.
- Maintain accurate proposal data and milestones within CRM systems.
- Support interview preparation and materials, as needed, with guidance from leadership.
- Partner with graphic designers to create visually compelling proposals and presentations.
Requirements
- A 4-year degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field is required.
- 2-5 years of experience with RFP responses and proposal writing.
- Familiarity with architectural, engineering, design, and/or construction management services.
- Strong writing, editing, communication, and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
Qualifications
- Preferred experience with KDOT, MoDOT, NDOT, ARDOT, Iowa DOT or Kansas City metro cities (or similar clients).
Skills
- Strong writing, editing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $65,000 - $80,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.

Core Business Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
