Property Disposal Technician

About the Role

This position involves reviewing excess property reports, supporting customer inquiries, reconciling database discrepancies, serving as a visitor control point, and managing shipment scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Review excess property reports for technical accuracy and inspect property to ensure correct item identities and conditions.
• Support customer inquiries and actions related to property.
• Research, reconcile, and advise on database rejects and records discrepancies for various property disposal actions.
• Serve as the primary visitor control point of contact, manually screening all incoming and outgoing vehicles, passenger baggage, and personnel.
• Manage the scheduling database for incoming and outbound shipment appointments.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Tour of Duty: 1st Shift.
• Security Requirements: Non-Critical Sensitive.
• Appointment is subject to a favorable suitability or fitness determination; unfavorably adjudicated background checks will be grounds for removal.
• Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Non-Exempt.
• Selective Service Requirement: Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
• Selectees must have a REAL ID or other acceptable identification documents to access certain federal facilities.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Property Disposal Technician, your resume and supporting documentation must support one year of specialized experience directly related to this position.

• GS-07 Level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level, including:
  • Applying property disposal policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Completing property disposal assignments and resolving individual case problems.
• GS-05 Level: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level, including:
  • Referencing property disposal policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Assisting with property disposal tasks under close supervision.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations.

Education

Education may substitute for experience if it demonstrates the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Education must be from an accredited institution.

• GS-07: Graduate education directly related to the position may be credited.
• GS-05: Four years of education above high school.
• Combination of education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements at grade GS-05.

If using education to qualify, you must submit a transcript. For foreign education, credentials must be evaluated by a private organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education programs.
