Property Accountant

We are looking for a Property Accountant to support a real estate portfolio in Rockville, Maryland through a broad range of accounting, reporting, and lease-related activities. This role combines day-to-day financial operations with month-end close responsibilities, lender reporting, and coordination with property management and construction teams. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to accurate financial records, timely reconciliations, and reliable reporting for both property and corporate entities. Responsibilities:• Support cash application and deposit recording as needed to help maintain accurate daily transaction processing.• Review and process vendor invoices for payment, including weekly electronic disbursements and check runs.• Maintain complete and organized financial records within the general ledger, using Yardi to post transactions and monitor activity.• Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries related to cash movements, escrow activity, and account adjustments.• Perform monthly bank reconciliations for assigned properties and corporate accounts, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.• Analyze draft financial statements, identify notable variances, and communicate observations to property management for follow-up.• Track and post account reclassifications, mortgage activity, escrow balances, reserves, prepaid items, and accruals for assigned assets.• Assemble owner and lender reporting packages, reimbursement requests, year-end workpapers, and other schedules required for audits, tax preparation, and external reporting.• Coordinate payment of property-level obligations such as real estate taxes and insurance, while maintaining supporting schedules and lender-related documentation. The ideal candidate will have a BS in Accounting, 2+ years of commercial property management accounting experience or public accounting auditing with real estate clients and strong attention to detail.
