Property Accountant

Our client is a leading energy company known for reliable service, operational excellence, and a strong commitment to the customers and communities it serves. The Property Accountant will lead property accounting close activities, maintain fixed asset records, and deliver accurate reporting to support compliance and decision-making. This is a full time contract position, onsite, based in Port Huron, MI, with a pay range of $42–$55 per hour. ResponsibilitiesPrepare complex property-related journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly close deliverables.Support fixed asset accounting, including asset tracking, capitalization, and depreciation support.Monitor construction work-in-progress and job costing activity, supporting accurate project accounting.Coordinate with internal teams to respond to property accounting inquiries and provide budget support.Research accounting issues, document conclusions, and prepare periodic reporting as needed.Support internal controls and compliance practices aligned to established accounting and regulatory standards.Partner with internal and external auditors by providing requested schedules, support, and documentation.Contribute to process improvements and assist with additional accounting projects as assigned.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting practices.5+ years of accounting experience with emphasis on property or fixed assets.Preferred: CPA and/or advanced degree; utility or regulated-industry accounting experience.Proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel) and common business applications; ability to learn new systems quickly.Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and produce accurate work.What We Offer401K retirement planMedical and dental benefits for qualifying professionals or Fixed Indemnity Health BenefitsFlex spending accountPet InsuranceCredit Union MembershipSick Leave available where mandated by lawWorker Advantage discount program membershipVoluntary Supplemental Insurance Our Equal Employment Opportunity Policy: Employment Enterprises, Inc. is an equal employment opportunity employer.
