Propane Service Technician (CDL B)

About the role

Lakes Gas, a family-owned propane provider for over 60 years and among the largest in the Midwest, operates with a small-town, local feel at each location. We are seeking a propane Service Technician for a local route with a Class B CDL position, allowing you to be home every night.

Responsibilities

• Customer service and sales
• Servicing, inspecting, and installing propane tanks, cylinders, and appliances at residential and commercial sites
• Pumping out tanks, removing and relocating tanks
• Performing outside equipment inspections
• Routing, securing, and installing gas lines and piping
• Setting and installing tanks and meters
• Assisting in the upkeep of company vehicles, tools, and plant
• Assisting branch locations by delivering propane to customer accounts
• Working a compensated on-call rotation
• Working outdoors in extreme weather environments

Requirements

• Valid Class "A" or "B" Commercial Driver's License with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements (or the ability to obtain requisite endorsements) without air brake restrictions
• A clean driving record verifiable by a Federal Motor Vehicle Report
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical and maintain a Federal DOT medical card
• Accurately perform basic mathematical calculations
• Ability to read, write, and clearly communicate
• Ability to detail all service work performed in company work orders
• Must comply with federal drug and alcohol testing requirements
• Ability to operate and maintain handheld tablets
• DOT Hazmat Training and Maintenance every three years
• Knowledge of NPFA 54 related to gas piping and appliance installation including combustion air and flue gas venting requirements
• Maintains compliance with all DOT requirements

• Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to pull delivery hose
• Must be able to bend, climb, reach, and rotate as needed
